Setting the vibe with intricate electric guitar and immersive drums, Frankie Crea opens his latest single, Plateaus with the introspective lyrics, “You say you’re sorry for what it can’t be, I lock it away safe and sound, is it another can we? Cause this bottle is empty, old habits dug up from under the ground, now are you with me? Or are you against me? I try so hard just to take what I found. No it’s not easy, it’s not meant to be, yeah…”
The hypnotizing soundscape expands into a hybrid alternative indie rock frequency, where Frankie takes us on a journey of facing challenges in life and trying to overcome them with strength and adversity.
Lyrics are conceptual and self-realized, with some highlights including the cosmic “See a time, in another place so four dimensional”, the comforting “There’s no place like home, humble abode safe haven”, and the curiously subversive “Questioning your minds eye built with a filthy patience.”
Frankie Crea has an epic flow which is nuanced, detailed and high concept, in line with his lyricism. The song also features an out-of-this-world guitar solo, which is cohesive with the detailed finger work we experience throughout the opus.
The rising musician from Perth in Australia says with passion, “I believe everyone who listens to it will be able to relate to it and thats why I want to get it out there”, when speaking about the relatability and his ambitions for the track.
Plateaus, which we have added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, has a sonic nod to his debut EP Countless Days with diminished jazzy chord progressions fused with Hendrixy inspired licks, which we have also been exploring!
