Setting the vibe with a celestial texture and synthetic pop beat reminiscent of the 80s, Caxiel opens his latest release, Out Of Time with the introspective lyrics, “Just let it go, I can’t step back, I don’t know how, it’s not the same without you…”
The song expands into a fierce and pulsating pop soundscape with 80s synth elements as Caxiel sings emotively “I know I’m losing control…”, and contracts again with nuance before exploding into an epic synth-heavy break down with snare details.
Speaking on the track, Caxiel says, “This song is very personal, it’s about reliving the past and dreading the future. It’s about missed opportunities and how time passes by so relentlessly. The fear of success and the fear of failure. The loneliness that comes with being an artist and having a very different life to everyone else’s.”
“I poured my personal feelings of anxiousness, worries of the past and the future, time being so relentless in its passing”, continues the multi-disciplinary artist who produces his own music, including composing, recording, writing, singing, mixing and mastering.
What is unique about Out Of Time is the way the song builds and minimizes so cohesively, demonstrating dimensionality and how detailed the artist’s input truly is, not to mention the key change!
Caxiel cites Michael Jackson, 80s music, hip hop, electro pop and k-pop as his influences, and we can also hear some elements of Lady Gaga in there. Having looked at Caxiel‘s social media, it is clear that he is a great dancer, and we cannot wait to see him perform live in the future.
Elaborating on the end of the song, Caxiel, who is from Peru says, “The last high note on this song was a mix of technique and pure emotion, I wanted it to be raw and not so perfect, to convey a sense of desperation and pain.”
He adds with reference to his broad pop sound, “I am trying to stay away from the stereotype that would be a Latin artist, and trying to stay away from being boxed in because of where I live and what culture I should belong to.”
We feel inspired by Caxiel‘s universe and have added Out Of Time to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring his wider discography including Never Stop and Gotta Move On.
