Setting the vibe with an alternative rock frequency and immersive guitar, Blind Season opens their Wine & Hair Dye with the introspective lyrics, “Smoke in the air, the fading of sunlight dares, and I’m with you on a balcony for two…”
As the song expands, we experience a melancholic conceptual story fused with an anthemic post-rock soundscape similar to The Smashing Pumpkins, where out protagonist begs, “give me a reason to stay here…”
The band consists of two official band members, Shane Sigro on vocals and guitar, and Mike Paraski on bass and backing vocals. Wine & Hair Dye is the first song in their release trilogy and the last for Blind Season‘s upcoming album.
Speaking on the intention of the song, Shane says, “Sadly I don’t have a lot of memory writing this one. It was all done in a night very quickly and it’s a depressing song. I kind of let this one speak for itself. It’s very specific and honest. I think the closing line of this songs sums up the album in a way, which is why it’s the last song.”
When discussing their influences, the duo cites Alice in Chains, Nothing But Thieves, The Cure and Seether to name a few, but it is clear that they are developing their own soundscape.
“The album was half recorded in my basement, and then polished up and had drums played on it in LA where Loren Israel’s studio where he also did the production of it with the tracks I sent him”, elaborates Shane when detailing the process of creating the track.
We have added Wine & Hair Dye to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been immersing ourselves in Blind Season‘s wider discography including Dye Your Name and Halloween.
