Setting the frequency with an intricate grunge-hybrid electric guitar before the song expands into a blues-rock soundscape, Bryce Evans opens his latest release, Hurricanes with the vulnerable lyrics, “I feel so lonely, living in my head, I feel so homeless, even in my bed, but you’re right here, next to me….”
Speaking on the concept, Bryce says, “This song is about Mental Health. It’s about understanding it when we are going through mental Hurricanes.”
“It dawned on me that a lot of people have these issues and this is a song that resonates with that. It tells you that you’re not alone in that fight, hang in there”, continues the rising artist from Colorado as he shares his wisdom.
Lyrical highlights include the plea and hook, “hey, help me out, I can’t swim in the world without you before the Hurricanes pull me down…”
Bryce demonstrates his vulnerability with the track as he sings about his scars of depression, anxiety and gender dysphoria. He shows us that asking for help from each other and the universe is okay.
Hurricanes features an epic guitar solo that really takes us to another, more liberated dimension. Bryce continues, “When I wrote this song I was going through a bout of depression. I was also dealing with being myself in a world that wouldn’t allow it.”
“I wrote the song with the intention of getting out what I felt and externalizing it so other people would understand”, he concludes.
We have added Hurricanes to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring Bryce Evans‘ wider discography including Hard Times and Stand Up.
