Setting the tone with vocals upfront, Bineal Roy sings the introspective lyrics, “Maybe it’s not the time to see things the way I do, and maybe it’s not the time to be infatuated with the moon…”, fused with a canvas of melodic indie-pop rock.
The song expands to narrate the contemplations of the protagonist and whether it is indeed the right time for an authentic connection with his muse.
“Baby if the stars align, could it really be a sign?” sings Bineal as he performs electric guitar in the music video, whilst documenting a series of missed moments with his love connection. Until he suddenly runs into a tree and the song stops… and we experience an enigmatic guitar solo which really enhances the emotion in the track. Our protagonist wakes up and eventually fate brings them together at the end of the video!
Maybe is the first solo single by Bineal Roy, who is a singers, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Sydney band, Adaptors. Speaking on the difference between his solo work and his band, Bineal says, “It is a bit more poppy and accessible but touches on similar themes (perspective, duality) and strives for diversity and melodicity.”
We have added Maybe to our New Music Spotlight playlist and are excited to hear more from Bineal Roy!
