Setting the vibe with syncopated percussion and a bouncing detail, the soundscape expands to deliver a metallic industrial element and cyber frequencies as Staytus opens her song Dreams from Hell with atmospheric vocals.
Lyrical highlights include the hook “I stay awake, I cannot take it anymore…”, the conceptual “A crooked sense of forgiveness”, and the plea of self-realization “Maybe it’s time to wake up…”, as Staytus takes us on a journey of “experiencing abuse over and over again”.
Staytus delivers an emotive energy, laced with anguish, pain and frustration, delivered in a passionate way. She is a composer and vocalist and she is set to release her debut 13-track album, Disease Of The Mind, as she cements her place in the goth meets industrial space.
Themes on the record as a whole include heartbreak, despair, resentment, and reality slipping away, all delivered authentically by the multidisciplinary artist who plays every single instrument on the record.
We love the outro as Staytus sings, “I just want my chance at redemption again…” as the song deconstructs and she leaves us with her message.
Designed to aid emotional catharsis, Staytus expands, “I had to write Disease Of The Mind to cope with my mental health struggles.”
“I truly felt like a broken, fallen angel when I composed this album. Acknowledging your feelings of hurt, anger, and despair can help you move through them to find hope and relief”, she adds with optimism and wisdom.
We have added Dreams from Hell to our New Music Spotlight and have been streaming Staytus’ previous singles Hourglass and Part of Me.
