Setting the frequency with an enigmatic and textured riser, MEDUSA opens her latest single, Thinking ‘Bout You with the emotive lyrics, “Think I’m going crazy, everything I do reminds me of you, something goes right through me whenever we are in the same room…”
Fused with a cinematic and celestial production, the song expands to deliver a dark pop-EDM soundscape, with lyrical highlights including the hypnotizing hook “I can’t stop thinking ’bout you…”, and the conceptual “You’re on my mind like a tattoo…”
We love the vulnerable and stripped down bridge, where MEDUSA demonstrates self-awareness of her boundaries with the lyrics, “I’m not gonna say its fine, when you just crossed the line, and after all you put me through, shouldn’t think about you, but it’s hard when I do…”
Speaking on Thinking ‘Bout You, MEDUSA says, “This song is particularly personal to me as it demonstrates how I focus my attention on others, who do not have the capability of making the same commitment. For me, this is my way of portraying that I am also human, and feel the same way all my fans do. We are no different. The purpose of this track is to resonate with others and I hope they find it as special as I do.“
MEDUSA cites Jorja Smith and Mabel as vocal inspirations, and references old school R&B from artists such as Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown, but it is clear that Medusa is creating a vibe of her own.
The production and vocal design on Thinking ‘Bout You exquisite and we are obsessed the overall immersive and transcendental nature of the hybrid fusion soundscape created with dance music producer, Aaron Holden. The dynamic producer takes inspiration from the likes of KREAM, Tchami, Jay Pryor, but with his own futurist take on sound design.
We have added Thinking ‘Bout You to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring MEDUSA‘s other singles, including Man Like That and Alone with You.
