Setting the frequency with intricately plucked acoustic guitar, Ella England opens her new song With You, delivering a plea, “Help me understand who I am, help me understand what I’m here to do, oh help me understand you…”
As the song expands, Ella’s emotive delivery is amplified in what feels like an ode to the universe, open to a multitude of interpretations. Speaking on the track, the rising artist who is Scottish and based in London says, “The song is about the closest person in my life helping me out of hard time when I found myself unsure of where my career path was taking me and how they helped build back my confidence.”
Lyrical highlights include the self-aware “I don’t know why I lock myself inside all the time…”, the questioning “I don’t know why I hurt myself all the time…”, and the optimistic hook “I am strong when I’m with you…”
Commenting on her artistry, Ella says, “My lyrics are relatable and about how you deal with the struggles young adults face, finding themselves as person.” We love the middle-8 of With You, whilst Ella sings “I just need a little faith…” passionately.
Ella England cites Adele, Amy McDonald, Alanis Morissette and Miley Cyrus as influences which we can feel on With You, but it is clear that Ella is forging her own path.
Ella leaves us with some words of wisdom on the intention of her music, “The ethos is helping young teens and young adults to follow their dreams even when they feel like everything is against them.”
We have added With You to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have also been streaming Ella’s song Home!
