We recently wrote about LA-based producer Ironfist‘s concept project Nikki Manos, well, our new favourite protagonist is back with the Deliriously Serious Remix of the already iconic Roses & Tumbleweeds.
The original version opens with layered frequencies and a bright high synth detail, with rolling hand played drums before Nikki Manos entices us with his deep and brooding vocal.
However, the Deliriously Serious Remix opens with keys, guitar and a cerebral high frequency and we are obsessed. Nikki’s signature vocal is more subversively processed in this version, as the song expands into a more ska-punk soundscape with epic harmonies that give us an almost hybrid-reggae vibe.
The remix was released on the every important date of 4/20, and features a distance-based duo, Deliriously Serious who combine hip hop, rock, and reggae.
The rework is pretty epic and includes an American Southwest carnival-style piano that further dimensionalizes the track from the original with added horns. The song expands and contracts cohesively and emotively, and we are fully obsessed.
We love the themes of the narrative-based verse from Deliriously Serious member, Luchador who adds an epic presence to the already genius song and luscious deep vocals from Nikki Manos. We have added the Remix and the original to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
