Setting the tone with an immersive cosmic frequency and keys, we are immediately mesmerized by Burn Like Stars‘ new single Strange Comfort, even before it explodes into a screamo-hybrid metalcore soundscape that takes us to another dimension.
Featuring vocalist Christian Roche from Diamonds to Dust, the band says “Strange Comfort is about battling depression and having that negativity follow you around, weighing you down.”
“A lot of fans have found relation into this song and we hope to keep on bringing out music that people can relate to. We think its important to write about real topics that could possible help others through tough times”, concludes band member and writer Lloyd Ratalsky, instilling his wisdom.
Strange Comfort returns to it’s cinematic nature, as it ebbs and flows in emotion going between immersive soft rock and metal. Some lyrical highlights include the self-realized, “I guess we chase each other away, never wanting to admit our faults”, the vulnerable hook “You had to hurt me to make me feel again, Strange comfort“, and the optimistic “I am strong enough to face this”.
The breakdown of the song is vocally macabre and really takes on a deconstructive energy which is very unique with bold and moody delivery from Ratalsky.
We have added Strange Comfort to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and think that fans of 30 Seconds To Mars, System of a Down, Linkin Park and Disturbed will definitely be able to connect with the song!
