Setting the frequency with an enigmatic textured risers and emotive keys, Tori Boltwood opens her latest single, Stay on the moon, with the lyrics, “Stay on the moon, cos I don’t wanna see you change…”
As the song expands, we experience celestial soundscaping and emotive vocals as Tori tells the story of “how we must acknowledge that loving someone isn’t always enough to keep them in your life” .
The rising artist from Fort Worth continues, “There are important moments where life requires you to make the difficult choice for what’s best for not only your mental and emotional health, but the health of both people involved.”
The cinematic opus has an out-of-this-world energy that is designed to mimic the metaphorical atmosphere of space travel. Tori says “the goal was to make the listener feel as if they where a part of a scene that took part in the endless vastness of space.”
Speaking on how art can help one’s mental well-being, Tori expresses that Stay on the moon “was my version of therapy. It allowed me to work through my pain and anger of the loss that inspired it and instead of being lost in those feelings I was able to focus on writing a song that could possibly help other people through their own pain.”
We love the intention that Tori Boltwood shares with her artistry and going deeper, Tori cites Elvis, Cher and Adele as influences, although it is clear that she is creating a universe of her own.
We have added Stay on the moon to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring Tori Boltwood‘s wider discography including Cry Baby and I love you more.
