With a soundscape of intricate guitar and textured drums, Will Spencer opens his debut single with the name of the track itself. He sings introspectively, “Misty Rain, all on my summer days, I can’t explain why I don’t feel the same…” as the song expands, along with the rising artist’s vocal range.
Sonically rooted in the spirit of folk music, Misty Rain has an enigmatic and ethereal energy with Will’s soaring and elegant vocals. The single is the first in the run up to his debut EP.
Speaking on the track, Will Spencer says, “It’s a song about feeling numb sometimes when you know you should be happy; when you can’t explain why. This song was recorded entirely at home and is self-produced. I hope that this song finds its way to somebody going through something – just to make things ever so slightly lighter – like writing it did for me.”
We love the intention that Will shares with his artistry, and we are excited to hear more heartbreaking and honest stories from Will’s future releases.
Will says that his body of work is “inspired by Jeff Buckley’s majestic album ‘Grace’ and stunned by the schismatic writing styles of Everything Everything”, but it is clear that Will is creating a universe of his own.
The guitar solo is exquisite on Misty Rain lends itself to dimensionality for the track, which fuses genres of pop, folk and alt rock. We have added Misty Rain to our New Music Spotlight playlist and eagerly anticipate Will Spencer‘s upcoming EP!
