Setting the tone with a textured, atmospheric vocal soundscape and the lyrics, “Is this everything you wanted? Is this everything you need? How will I ever know if you never speak up?”, juracán opens his latest release, Dame Todo with the theme of introspection.
Inspired by the artist’s time in isolation and navigating dating after ending a 10-year relationship, the song expands, with rising strings into a R&B trap frequency with lots of harmonies and vocal detailing, to create a story-driven opus that is written from two points of view.
This first point of view is filled with vulnerability and sung in English, whilst the second point of view is sung in Spanish an is about “overtly asking for one’s needs”.
The detail is in the nuance and delivery in his high concept piece of artistry. Written to help the artist himself heal, and expand accordingly, we are keen to add Dame Todo to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as soon as it is released.
We love the transformative and dark break down of the track fused with juracán‘s intricate Spanish delivery. He cites influences including genres such as bolero, merengue, bachata, salsa, latin pop, reggaetón, and other genres his parents and Dominican community cherishes. Influences such as post-rock, math rock, progressive rock, metal, sludge, soundtrack, ambient, R&B, jazz, improv, and pop music took priority during his teenage years, but is is clear that juracán is creating a universe of his own.
Dame Todo was recorded at juracán studio and at Eric Leavell’s studio. He wrote and performed all instruments and the song was co-produced, mixed, and programmed by Eric Leavell, with additional programming by Frank Rio and mastering by Amy Dragon.
