YUTZI channel self-awareness on intricate and emotive new single, Give Me The Blame

Setting the vibe with intricate guitar and a descending keys, expanding into a hybrid-folk-soft rock frequency, YUTZI open their latest release, Give Me The Blame with the introspective lyrics, “Sometimes I inflict the pain, I can be so cold, just give me the blame…”

Give Me The Blame is also the title track of YUTZI’s upcoming 3rd EP, and is a song about “the difficulty of leaving a relationship to pursue your dreams”.

Lead singer, Tom Starr wrote the song to channel emotions he had been feeling after moving on from a relationship to pursue his dream of becoming a successful touring musician.

The emerging rock band from Maryland is here to captivate the mainstream with the new release, as they sing with wisdom and self-awareness “I must go away and leave this all behind, it’s a selfish thing to do, but this is my pursuit…”

The song features ten different instruments and multiple vocalists, has an accompanying NPR Tiny Desk Contest video, which is due for release next week!

Give Me The Blame features guitars, drums, keyboards, bass, saxophone, cello, viola, violins, and multiple vocalists, and marks the band’s evolution into a more mainstream, commercial sound.

YUTZI cite Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Cat Stevens and The Black Keys as some of their influences, but it is clear that the band is carving a path of their own with their psychedelic flare and immersive soundscapes.

The band was formed by childhood friends and elementary school rock band-mates Tom Starr (Vocals, Guitar) and Austin Lasky (Drums), and named after their first music teacher, Mr. Yutzy.

We have added Give Me The Blame to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been immersing ourselves further in the band’s discography including Dynamite and Quicksand!
