Setting the tone with a pulsing electronic beat, cerebral melodic detailing and sultry breaths, Jemma Pixie Hixon opens her highly anticipated new single with the fierce lyrics, “You wanna break down my walls, I’m gonna Pull Fear From The Inside…”
Speaking on the meaning of Pull Fear From The Inside, Jemma says, “This song was born out of the desire to capture and vocalise what living with mental health disorders feels like. It is about the fear individuals experience daily but also highlights their inner strength.”
Jemma, who is a YouTube sensation and recovering agoraphobic, went viral globally for not having left her house for years at a time. Pull Fear From The Inside marks her creative comeback with a polished sound, cohesive message and out-of-this-world visuals.
Pull Fear From The Inside fuses electronic pop, dark synth-wave, and elements of industrial and alternative rock, delivering a delectable tapestry of self-empowerment and self-awareness. The song sees Jemma move from cover singer and viral star to creator of her own universe.
“After singing covers on YouTube for over a decade I wanted to unleash my lyrical creativity through creating original music”, says Jemma who has dealt with panic attacks and anxiety since the age of six which developed into severe agoraphobia.
“Although I still battle daily with severe anxiety and panic attacks, I want to show other sufferers that inner strength and determination can help overcome adversity”, continues the rising artist from the U.K.
Jemma cites Nine Inch Nails, Grimes, FKA Twigs and In This Moment, Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey as some of her influences, but it is clear that she is carving her own party with her cyber-electronica meets synthetic dark-wave soundscape.
