Setting the frequency with a glowing and vibrant synth fused with 80s-hybrid drums and bass, Tired All the Time open their latest single, Then and There with the lyrics, “there’s a tunnel from home straight to your desk, there’s a glowing arrow on a street sign, and code that practically wrote itself on our hearts…”
The trio from Washington go on to take us on a cerebral journey about losing the will the live when the work life balance is not in harmony. Life as an artist with a job to fund living on planet Earth can very often be exhausting, and the message that Tired All the Time has, even with their name, is very relatable.
TATT features Michael Richard Tally on vocals and synthesizer, Brian Miller on bass and Edward Barakauskas on drums. The experimental rock group is from Washington and explore themes of “sociogenic anxiety, societal disparities and future uncertainty” through a lens of genre expansive existentialism.
The rising band has shared the stage with notable acts such as platinum selling UK artists, FEEDER, Zen Mother, and Lapeche. When discussing their influences, the band cites a wide range featuring Faith No More, Future Islands, Torche, Interpol, Boris, Sonic Youth, Animal Collective, Black Moth Super Rainbow, MGMT and more.
Speaking on their artistry, the band says, “Tired all the Time utilizes a lot of dead pan humor involving the experience of life in a capitalistic western society. Some of our social media posts have resulted in us being contacted by individuals, hoping we can help them with their illnesses. Likewise, our followers may jokingly ask us business or medical questions without knowing our day jobs are in healthcare and finance.”
When discussing purpose, they ask philosophically, “What are we doing? Who are we becoming? When’s lunch? Big picture questions for us all but also the questions that guided the creation of Then and There. Our latest effort hopes to bring the dream like quality of the work/recreation cycle into focus. Are we bound to relitigate questions of previous potential or is the eternal recurrence a great wheel slowly grinding us to dust?”
All of the above are great questions and the only way that we can truly find out the answers is to stay aligned to the universe and continue to create meaningful art in the hopes that it will be recognised and free us from the constraints of the system.
The band concludes, “At Tired all the Time, we believe we have the power to change lives through musical innovation. Our combined experiences help us connect with clients by providing invaluable insight into the universal struggle known as the human condition.”
Then and There has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist and we have been exploring the band’s wider discography including their recent singles Sun and The Board.
