Opening with a click, with an immersive guitar melody and celestial details, we are already hypnotized by Signature D‘s recent latest release, Company.
The song expands with a sensual R&B vocal layer from Signature D whilst the track takes us on a trippy and immersive journey.
Destin Beaumont, known as Signature D, is a producer hailing from the island of Trinidad and Tobago, whose style fuses luscious textures and heavy hip hop styled drums to create varying musical soundscapes.
We are joined by an additional guitar, which takes on the protagonist role as Signature D briefly takes a break from the vocals, before emerging with more textures and layered harmonies.
Signature D‘s biggest influences range from “Laxcity” and “San Holo”, to “Imagiro”, “Ldre”, and “Chris Punsalan”, but it is clear that the rising artist from Chaguanus in Trinidad and Tobago, is creating his own universe.
Speaking on the release, Signature D says, “Company was inspired by spending time with loved ones in the midst of the chaos of quarantine.”
“The vocal lines represent the harmony of meaningful relationships. I decided to use my voice as a lyrical instrument instead of using words so that the listener would not be distracted by lyrics. I wanted the vibe to be relaxing and soothing”, he concludes with his intentions for the track.
From a young age, Signature D played the piano and also joined the Trinidad and Tobago Youth Philharmonic Orchestra where he decided to play the French Horn.
Though classical music was fun, he had a deep desire to create his own music. His church hosted a music workshop and it was here, where he was introduced to the music production software, Ableton Live.
Since that day, he became obsessed with creating musical textures. He began creating electronic dance music which was his favourite genre at the time and posted his first song on SoundCloud in 2016.
We have added Company to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been immersing ourselves in Signature D‘s wider discography including Pearl, Swing and Duvet.
