Setting the tone with an enigmatic cerebral frequency and strummed guitar, Kailie Simpson opens her latest single Question Everything with the introspective lyrics, “The good look bad and bad look good, the devil once was an angel too…”
Luscious harmonies envelop us as the song expands whilst Kailie sings about the fine line between subjective truths. “You are you, that’s the only weapon that you need” sings Kailie Simpson as she instills her wisdom on Question Everything.
Produced by Ben Rice (Norah Jones, The Jezabels, Daughter), Question Everything gives an iconic pop-rock hybrid energy as Kailie sings the title of the track. Fans of Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and WILLOW will be able to connect with Question Everything.
“I wrote this during a time of complete confusion” shares Kailie when discussing the track.
“The world as we knew it was no longer and there were lots of conversations that pulled us every which way. I found myself more curious, and more defiant. Not wanting to mold to any one side or opinion. Challenging people’s stances and getting to my own ideas and conclusions”, continues the rising artist from Bloomfield.
“There is something to be said about the younger generations. Throughout history there is this urgency in us all. We long for change, unity, and peace. Just listen to any decade of music and the overall messages are similar. Question Everything is that for me, and I hope it can be the same for the listeners as well.”
A lyrical highlight is “the truth will set us free” which is linked to the ethos and intention of the track to help people amplify curiosity energy so that we can manifest more love.
Speaking on the origins of the song, Kailie says, “The song went from a poem, to a piano ballad, to a full blown anthem. Ben Rice took my almost six minute song, cut it in all the right places and challenged me to tweak a few lines. These alterations truly elevated the message, and I hope that it lights a fire. A passionate, curious, energetic fire.”
We have added Question Everything to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have also been immersing ourselves in Kailie Simpson‘s self-titled EP.
