Earlier this year, we featured De Antiquis Et Novis’s luxurious single and album title track, Afterglow, today, we are really excited to experience the artist’s latest release, Calm.
The single opens with a meditative synth and the lyrics, “I don’t wanna run for another day, a million words left to say…” as the beat drops and we are immersed in the intricate and calming soundscape of De Antiquis Et Novis.
When discussing his influences, De Antiquis Et Novis’ references Christopher von Deylen, Schiller, Blank & Jones, Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream, but it is clear that the artist is creating his own universe.
The vibrant synth work and bright guitars have us hypnotized, fused with the conceptual lyrics of the track inspiring us to find peace in the physical and spiritual realms.
Calm strips back for a moment to unveil light tabla and intricate guitar at one point, before the electronica immerses us once again on this transcendental journey.
Inspired by peace, we appreciate the intention of the song which is also the last singe from the visionary artist’s album Afterglow which is due for release this Summer.
“It is one of the rare songs where I incorporate acoustic and electric guitars to spice up the song but still keep faithful to the chill out mood my songs stand for”, says the artist, also known as Matthias Schorer.
“If calm is able to make you relax and chill out when listening to it, then it has achieved its intended goal,” concludes the composer from Munich.
Calm has been added our New Music Spotlight playlist and we can’t wait to hear the full record this Summer!
