Immersing us with intricate guitar, emotive bass and luxurious drums intertwined with a a mild static frequency for atmosphere, Prince of Sweden opens his latest single, Garrison Lane with a conceptual narrative.
Garrison Lane tells a series of poetic tales of adventure, human connection and emotion, all centred around Garrison Lane. Prince of Sweden delivers a moody and soothing vocal, recorded in Alt J‘s studio in East London.
Citing the songwriting of Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen as influences, we can feel a nostalgic yet timeless presence, although the soundscape lends itself to modernity with the vocal production.
Garrison Lane goes from conceptual to intimate as our protagonist sings, “I’m still awake, and thinking ’bout how a chill come in through our bedroom…” as the song starts to conclude.
We love how deep the rising artist’s pronunciation goes at some points during Garrison Lane, giving dimensionality to his already hypnotizing delivery. Textured harmonies are exquisite and deliver a robust and warm energy for the track, amplifying intimacy and as sense of allure.
We have added Garrison Lane to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been also streaming Prince of Sweden‘s EP, Live from a Dark Room!
