Immersing us with a cerebral and metallic synth, a vocal delivering some enthusiastic pro cannabis activism (also note the artwork!) and some doubled high hats, we are already hypnotized and intrigued by Lowtyde‘s latest release, Thank U (Say the Word).
Lowtyde opens the song with the poetic lyrics, “And I wrote you tonnes of letters, but don’t think they’re coming through, half the words are written in black ink cos I ran out of blue…”
As the song evolves, Lowtyde sings optimistically “just say the word, and I got you…” as his vocals are fused with a pulsing bass and vibrant synth-work.
Thank U (Say the Word) is the second single from Lowtyde’s debut project, The Summer Slump. When describing the track, the rising artist from Broward County Florida says, “it’s an unconventional love song told from the point of view of two people drifting apart. It’s sweet in it’s sentiment and boisterous in its production.”
Lowtyde continues, “The ethos for this track was to create something that people could dance to, something that could bring people together.”
Thank U (Say the Word) definitely inspires movement in us, and we love the diversity in beat production as he sings “thank you marijuana”. We love the celestial lyricism that touches on the human condition, dancing, plant medicine.
Astral and cosmic textures in the song really help amplify the experience, as our protagonist professes his love for his muse and gratitude for the plant.
We have added Thank U (Say the Word) to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been immersing ourselves in Lowtyde‘s wider discography including Garden of the Gods and Silly Tuesdays.
