Setting the tone with a celestial frequency, Australia’s John Leslie Hulcombe opens his latest release with the introspective lyrics, “Fell into trouble, the day that I was born, I can’t remember all that much, but I’m sure it was all wrong…”
John goes on to sing his perspective on growing up in a world that wasn’t right for him. He sings, “Sanctuary, I need a place to hide…” and expands on his loneliness with ethereal harmonies by Andrea Kirwin, and atmospheric layered vocals.
It is clear that the artist has genuine love and passion for his craft and we adore the ethereal and introspective soundscape of Sanctuary. We love the poetic and self-realized lyrics, “vibrating to the universe, to the heart of the chosen one”.
Peter Koppes delivers a stunning guitar solo and Gregorian chant effects. Peter is best known for his long association with iconic band, The Church. We love the enigmatic instrumentation on the composition, which takes us from Earth to the astral realm, with passion and genius.
John contemplates life after death before a final chorus that immerses and transfixes us. We have added Sanctuary to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been exploring John Leslie Hulcombe’s wider discography!
