Immersing us with electric keys, vocal details and cosmic textures, Meggy Katigbak opens her latest single, Today, with vulnerable lyrics, “One day, today, I wish I never met you but I gotta say, I somehow learned a lot from you, though I wonder if I really had to…”
The rising artist from Philippines tells us a story of bittersweet and painful process of realizing that you have to free yourself from a toxic and familiar situation.
Speaking on the track, Meggy Katigbak says, “I wrote this while trying to process intense feelings about moving on from a life that meant so much to me, but caused me so much pain.”
Art as therapy is so important, so we love the message that Meggy is conveying with this, which is self-realization through trauma, and part of karmic relationships and the human condition.
“My heart and my pride is just so done with your greed…” sings the rising artist as she asserts her boundaries with her cheating ex.
Inspired by R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop and Broadway, Meggy Katigbak created the song in her home studio with her brother Teddy Katigbak on production.
The conscious artist also has songs including God Save the World and I’m in Love. We have her discography on repeat and have added Today to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
