Setting the tone with cerebral synth frequencies, rippling hip-hop drums, vocal textures and strings, Dre Day 100 opens his latest release, Ride With Me with the almost mantra-esque “homie come and bounce with me, ride with me, homie come and bounce with me, ride with me…”
The narrative of Ride With Me is personal and Dre Day 100 takes us through his come up story, vulnerabilities and depth with epic flow reminiscent of some of the finest hip hop geniuses in history.
Speaking on the track, Dre Day 100 says “Lately I been having fans say they wanna hear something real something from the heart something from the soul. They wanna know more about my background.”
Through listening to and learning from his inspirations like Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and DJ Quik, Dre Day 100 has clearly developed an unbelievably brilliant skill of lyricism and catchy melodic hooks. We can really feel the Tupac influence on Ride With Me, particularly with reference to delivery and the synth production.
Speaking further on his creative process Dre Day 100 says, “I took that constructive criticism and turned it into action. I let the pen write out events that went on. Everything from my run in with the law for marijuana possession, the unhealthy lifestyle I was living, working at Whataburger and Popeyes to pay bills and invest in my music, to finally putting my music out there, boxing, and just straight up improving my life choices.”
Diving into the production process, clean lyricism and upcoming EP, Dre Day 100 elaborates “Fast forward and I’m in the booth with Charlie Roc cooking up something mean ya heard meeeee. I even improved the energy on this one to keep heads bobbing fo sho. NO EXPLICIT LYRICS either so you can play it around ya momma no worries. Ride With Me so you can capture the journey, the growth and the development of Dre Day 100. When you hear this in ya ears, just know the whole 1Hunna Man EP will be fire as well.”
Dre Day 100 has opened up for the likes of Riff Raff, Xavier Wulf, Big Pokey and ESG, has performed at eight shows and has released fourteen singles, including Get High Wit Me and Rollin’ Wit Da Real.
