Setting the tone with vinyl texture and an enigmatic and immersive synth fused with a “yeah, yeah, uh”, Mia Delamar opens her new release Cool, with an out-of-this-world R&B vocal that immediately has us in our feels.
The rising artist who is a singer-songwriter, musician, choreographer, dancer and actress hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, knows herself and her worth, as she confidently sings “came to your senses cos now I’m that chick, back in the day you said I wasn’t it…”
As the production of the tracks expands, we are filled with emotional whirring bass with refined musicality as our protagonist flawlessly sings, “I’m cool, cool on you, should have took a chance and just made your move…” in reference to a lover who wants a piece now that Mia is in her bag!
Mia currently works with Dubzworld Productions, and multi-platinum record producer JDub and Billboard Studios. At just 23 years old, Mia boasts an impressive resume of singing, dancing, and acting credentials. Having studied dance since the age of 2, she holds a Bachelor of Music and a Minor in Dance, from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. An icon to say the least.
“Out of your league, can you catch the drift?” continues the rising artist as she asserts her confidence on the song, with celestial harmonies and a poetic and sudden breakdown which has us leaning in for the repeat button.
When discussing her influences, Mia cites Mary J Blige, Ariana Grande, and Aaliyah which we can really feel come through in Mia’s artistry, although the emerging star is definitely creating a sound of her own.
Discussing early songwriting, Mia explains,“Music has always been a part of who I am. I knew it was for me. I started writing songs at eight and wrote my first good song at nine. I’ve been writing for a very long time and it’s something that comes very naturally to me. With music, I don’t have to force anything, it just feels right. I have a God-given gift and I intend to use it to my best ability.”
We have added Cool to our New Music Spotlight playlist and have been listening to Mia Delamar‘s first EP, Focus too!
