We first fell in love with Girl in the mirror for her song Snowfall in Seoul, so we were super excited to hear that she was collaborating with New York’s Emily McNally on a new single, Lonely.
Lonely opens with elegant keys before we are met with ethereal vocals and a pulsing beat that resonates with every cell of our body. Lyrical highlights include the introspective “I tend to meditate on me, myself and I”, and the celestial “when the stars come out at night, and they’re the only ones there to hold me, I ask the moon when will it end, don’t wanna be so lonely.”
The vocal performance and production is exquisite with beautiful harmonies and soaring and expansive synths. We love the animated lyric video which really brings the narrative and dimension of the track to life.
Lonely is about “how all-consuming the feeling of loneliness can sometimes be”, going deep into the human experience of lonely souls looking for human connection.
Girl in the mirror is a music producer and vocalist/songwriter based in Budapest, Hungary, who has been releasing light, emotional, energetic electronic music since 2018.
Thanks to her classical music background, she understands almost all phases of the creative process, from composing, playing instruments, and singing to producing. Visuals that support the story told through her music are also important to her musical world.
