Easing us in with bright electric guitar before we are hypnotized by an indie-disco-hybrid beat, Chris Hart opens his latest release Are You There? with the vulnerable lyrics, “I’ve been looking for you in the wrong places, no luck trying to find truth in familiar faces…”
The multi-disciplinary artist from Atlanta, who has been playing guitar since the age of 10, has released Are You There? as their first release of the year, lending itself to an indie rock meets disco frequency which explores themes of abandonment, loneliness, and existentialism.
We long the concept of the song and are able to interpret it in a multitude of ways, which serves as a great hook for listener relatability, making Chris’s art feel inclusive to all.
Speaking on the concept of the track, Chris Hart profoundly says, “Who this song makes the listener think of is up to them, but it’s safe to say most people have had someone or something important to them slip away. And when you think about it, sometimes you start to wonder if there was anything real in that relationship in the relationship at all.”
We have been immersing ourselves in Chris Hart’s wider discography including New Roots, So Easy and Laid Up and have added Are You There? to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
