Setting the frequency with psychedelic and immersive electric guitar, 9 o’clock Nasty open their latest release, Playboy Driver with an epic introduction fused with visuals of some iconic and disastrous F1 footage.
Speaking on the intention and message of the release, the rising band say, “Truth is, and this may be hard to hear, we only live once. We are born, we live. We die. If you’re going to waste your life, waste it in style. Hit the gas. It’s time to make our move. Burn the rubber, embrace the feeling.”
The profound wisdom is instilled in the narrative of the song where the band questions reality and inspire us to take risks in order to reap the rewards of life as a human being.
Divulging on the track, 9 o’clock Nasty sat the song is “steeped in garage rock and stinking of gasoline and sex it puts its boots on your table and sips a dry, dry martini.” What an epic descriptor that has us ready to fly at 100mph.
The band continues, “released alongside a new F1 motorsport season, this is a theme song for true high speed action.”
We feel the energy in the soundscape and expansive visual. Textures in the songs are exquisite and we love the way the vocals mesh into the production so seamlessly.
“There is nothing playful or eclectic about this one. This is a statement of intent. A moment of violence. Garage rock is back, baby”, conclude the band. We have added Playboy Driver to our New Music Spotlight playlist.
Stay tuned until the end of the video where we are met with a surprise and conscious reality break! We have been immersing ourselves in the band’s wider discography including Do Me Too and their cerebral cover of Sexy Back.
