Setting the tone with vocal samples, textured and layered with horns fused with a polished hip-hop beat, JASMINEGOLD open their new song, Conscious with a refined delivery taking us on a cerebral and indeed, a conscious and introspective journey.
JASMINEGOLD consists of members David Nights and Kj. The track is produced by David Nights, and also features a music video, directed in collaboration with Calvin Pappas.
Lyrical highlights of Conscious include, the profound “try to get in my head but I’m too conscious”, the physical and empowering “I’m writing the deeds cos i’m blessed”, and the contemplative “they call me the insomniac, I never get rest, the weight on my chest is too much for a man like me”.
Speaking on the track, David Nights says, “We move on and forget things very quick right now, If something is not different while still being well made its not going to stick. This is the music we want to be influential.”
The duo combines old school hip-hop with elements of future alternative, to create a unique sound. Speaking on the production, JASMINEGOLD says, “The beat is very Kanye inspired with a touch of BROCKHAMPTON. The flows are reminiscent to Tyler the Creator and Baby Keem.” We love these references and can feel them in the track, although the vibe delivered by JASMINEGOLD is definitely unique to them.
Conscious is featured in our New Music Spotlight playlist and we have also been immersing ourselves in the duo’s previous single, Crisis, which you can stream below!
