Setting the tone with layered and textured guitars, rising artist Presley Duyck opens her latest release, Cold Together with the reassuring lyrics, “I’m not going anywhere, though it might be in my best interest not to care, here I am, holding out my hand…”
The narrative of the song takes us on a profound journey of supporting a friend. The hook, “let’s be cold together, we can make this our shelter” references the proximity that we can share with someone we love when it is metaphorically cold.
According to Presley Duyck, Cold Together was written about “a friend who was fighting a battle with addiction.”
“It was meant to be an uplifting song to remind people that we don’t have to fight our battles alone. So many people are struggling right now and there is an epidemic of suicide.”
Presley continues to install her wisdom and demonstrate her unwavering support for her friend with lyrics, “I know you feel you let me down, but I don’t care…”. Presley is also donating a portion of proceeds to a suicide helpline organization.
We have been immersing ourselves in Presley’s existing discography including Juliet and Passenger Seat, and Cold Together is featured on our New Music Spotlight playlist.
