A gritty riser and textured psychedelic guitars set the scene for Near Death Experience (NDX)‘s latest release, Found, before the lyrics “when I lost my life, I found my life, I found a better a girl, when I lost my life, I found my life, I found a better a world, when I lost my life, I found my life, I found a better a love…” cement the frequency that we are on with the UK band.
The concept of the song is in line with the name of the band, and we are here for this revelation. A literal near death experience that almost always makes someone a better person afterwards. Sometimes you have to die to come alive.
The wise and visionary group are from Ealing in London – and their vibe is “shimmering psych-tinged indie pop, where rock, soul and funk collide.” This is the perfect medium for their conscious message.
The narrative is astral and the hook is infectious, taking us out of this dimension. We love the levels of self awareness and expansion demonstrated with a a return to form for protagonist.
NDX have played many of London’s popular new-band ‘grass roots’ venues (Dublin Castle, Fiddler’s Elbow, Underbelly, Hope & Anchor) treating audiences to their distinct psych-tinged rock-and-soul sound. They have been played on BBC Radio London’s Introducing show with Gary Crowley, and on the Bimble Inn stage at Glastonbury Festival.
We love the band’s conscious message and the wisdom they are bringing forward with their art and have been immersing ourselves in their wider discography, including their songs Religion and Conquer. Found has also been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist on Spotify.
