Opening with an unexpected dance frequency showcasing the artist meditating on a roof and then transported to a beach, Lucy Eliza‘s cover of Billie Eilish’s iconic No Time To Die is already dimensional and standing in its own right.
Speaking on why she chose to cover the track, Lucy Eliza said, “The emotion of this song, as shown through Billie’s voice, hit me on another level. It was one of those songs which caused me to frantically Google other versions because I couldn’t get enough of it. I felt I had to do a cover of it with my own unique twist. I can only hope that I have done the song justice.”
We love the whirring production and the textures of the synths fused with Eliza’s voice. The rising U.K. artist, who is 22-years old, has taken the moody core of the original and given it a fresh and bright electronic twist, with vibrant production by FRNDS AS CMPNY.
The video, directed by Vitalii & Violetta of VAKUL FILMS sees Lucy undergo somewhat of a transformation as well, opening in a meditative pose, exploring the beach, the woods and eventually coming full circle, but with a super human surprise.
Lucy Eliza loves pop music and grew up listening to Ellie Goulding and Selena Gomez, she found inspiration in the fusion of their sound with EDM sensibilities.
Unaware of her vocal capabilities until she was thirteen, she has since found conviction in her narrative and is set to expand on this sound akin to Kygo and Ava Max. Lucy Eliza‘s cover of No Time To Die is featured on our New Music Spotlight playlist.
