Setting the tone with a riser and vocal texture crescendo, AUBREY opens her debut single Stay Longer with the vulnerable lyrics, “why did you leave, I can’t remember, all the flames that turn to embers, you bring out my weaker side, when I’m alone that’s when I cry…”
The production on Stay Longer is exquisite, as the song builds, the vocal flexes become more daring as the introspective artist asks, “could you stay a little longer?”
The song is intimate and flows with a brilliant industrial synth that really brings the dimensionality of the song to life. Fans of Banks, Lana and Tove Lo would love AUBREY‘s Stay Longer. The song also has a video directed by Sean Lien, where AUBREY serves choreography and drama.
Speaking on the track, AUBREY says, “The story behind the lyrics is very personal to me because I’ve struggled almost my whole life with anxiety, and the thought of being truly alone has always scared me.”
“I’ve used relationships to place a band-aid over this feeling, even if that meant staying in relationships that I knew weren’t working out.”
“I tried to tell this story by adding more and more tension and desperation as the verses go on, until finally the last verse ends with the line ‘When I’m alone, I’m not alive,’ meaning that sometimes I completely lose myself when I feel that lonely.”
It is super relatable thematically and fused with the epic production, it is clear that AUBREY is destined for greatness. Speaking on the creative experience, she says, “It was amazing to work on this song with producer Alex Winter. We took our time to create a sound that really resonated with me and helped the emotion of the lyrics shine to through.”
