High end glitching future-bass sets the tone for the debut release, SODA, from Spanish artist SAM LUMAR, who is based in the UK. Within moments the song breaks into polished and thrashing electric guitar.
The independent rockstar opens SODA with the lyrics, “You’re always searching for the end, the end, the end you never think is done. I’ve been trying to define the edge, the edge, the edge won’t ever fall apart.”
Introspective and refined, SODA was mastered at the iconic Abbey Road Studios by Oli Morgan (Bastille) and produced by SAM LUMAR himself, with additional production by Oz Craggs (Neck Deep).
Speaking on the track, SAM LUMAR says, “SODA is an energetic rock song about the struggles of internet addiction and nihilism”, this is brought to life by the lyrics, “Obey, obey, say what can you say, give me soda, give me soda, give it all away.”
The song is moving and vulnerable and we are excited by this debut from the rising artist, and cannot wait to hear more. Meanwhile, you can stream SODA in our New Music Spotlight playlist!
