Setting the tone with an anticipation-driving riser, New York’s alternative pop star Sydney Gordon opens her latest release, Say What You Mean with the lyrics “I could be selfish, maybe just a little hard to deal with, I ain’t gonna settle for some bulls**t”.
It is clear from the outset that Sydney Gordon knows what she wants, and knows who she is! Speaking on the track, Sydney says, “Say What You Mean is about expressing your opinions and being open with others and yourself! Knowing yourself and who you are is important, and sharing that with others is important too.
The pop star continues, “I try to stay strong minded and that sometimes can come off as ‘hard’ to other people. I follow what my mind tells me and I want my listeners to know that it is okay to be assertive and say what you mean! Just be yourself”.
We stan a self-realized 19-year old, and it is clear that Sydney is destined for greatness with this polished and refined pop production that is comparable to Ariana Grande’s work.
Sydney co-wrote Say What You Mean in collaboration with songwriter and producer Mike Cortes. The track was mixed by Tony Maserati (Mary J. Blige, Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Queen Latifah, Lola Coca) and mastered by Dave Kutch.
Sydney Gordon’s first release, Chains, was released at the top of the year and has since gained traction as numerous playlists and music sites have supported it with glowing reviews.
