Immediately hypnotising us with exquisite production, vocal samples and a pulsing beat that sends us to outer space, HIDEKKI opens his EDM and hip-hop fused release, FLWRBOY with guest vocals singing, “I’ve been living on a good love, living like you won’t stop”, followed by the more introspective “Giving you the best of me, but now I’m feeling like it’s all gone, baby where’d it go wrong, I thought we were meant to be now.”
The artist opens up to us with the vulnerable, “I did a line and I barely can feel it, chasing a shot with the cherry vanilla, said that you’re down ready and willing, you’re very in love but I bury my feelings.”
The clarity of the production is unrivalled, yet familiar, lending itself to being a dance floor bop that fuses the artist’s two main influences of hip-hop and EDM cohesively.
Salt Lake City’s HIDEKKI has created a narrative driven song which tells us a picture of a doomed romance through poetic lyricism “every time I’m tempted now I’m falling far from grace”, and “this heart will never change“.
HIDEKKI’s main genre influences are pop rap, hyperpop, and future bass, which are all seamlessly fused on FLWRBOY.
However, HIDEKKI makes an effort not to listen to any particular artists too much when in a creative mode.
Speaking on the current state of the industry, HIDEKKI says, “It’s hard to make money with music… but it’s easy to make an impact. Even if I never become commercially successful, I want to contribute to the soundtrack of a few people’s lives!”
