Opening with bright and polished guitar riffs, psychedelic new-wave outfit Bones in Butter from Belgrade, fronted by Milutin Krasevic have just released the delightful and refined single, Another Cloud.
In addition to Krasevic on vocals, guitar and writing, the expansive band also features Luna Skopelja on vocals, synths, Todor Zivkovic on guitars and soundscape, with Srdjan Popov on bass and Marcelo Effori on drums.
We adore the juxtaposition of sound and lyricism on Another Cloud and particularly the hook, “I jump on the next cloud“, which is so visually enticing and transportive.
Bones in Butter cite Lou Reed, the Stranglers, Wire, Magazine, the Electric Light Orchestra, Wall of Voodoo, Tuxedomoon, Joy Division, Howe Gelb all as influences, but state clearly, “we do not consider ourselves retro or a revival band, but try to create a unique and contemporary sound”. Which we can agree that the group has achieved with their discography!
Speaking on Another Cloud, the band says, “it is a shattering and heartbreaking tale of love, virtual realities, alienation, absence of physical contact and the doom of human civilization”.
