Opening with bright panning synths and a waving riser, XandY opens his latest release The Time Machine Of My Head with vocal textures and the lyrics, “I’ve been calling out to the angels in the sky, after you let me down, after I let you down…”
The Falmouth, U.K. based artist XandY (a.ka. Xandy Waddington) is an electronic music producer and singer who was involved in musical theatre from a young age has been releasing EDM-inspired productions and tracks since 2018.
The Time Machine Of My Head continues to expand sonically with a narrative of self reflection and self realisation, “because I got caught up in feelings… stuck in the time machine of my head.”
The chorus drop is pretty epic, and it makes sense that XandY is inspired by “all types of EDM and pop” and cites The Weeknd, Porter Robinson, Justin Bieber, Mat Zo, Seven Lions and some of his influences.
Speaking on the track, XandY says, “The Time Machine of My Head tells a story of regret for a previous relationship, in the form of the memories of it that keep replaying and acting like a ‘Time Machine’ as if always going back to the same point in time where things went wrong.”
The track has a sense of futurism, also brought to life by the artworks, but also lends itself to a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. We can’t wait to hear more from XandY. We love that his recent releases involve heavier use of vocals, which XandY has been practicing to add extra depth and personality to his productions.
