With a bright riser and glistening synth, British indie pop-rock four-piece, Galaxy Thief, open their latest release Timewaster with the lyric, “I intervene when its not my place, tried to help you but you threw it away“.
The song’s narrative revolves around the concept of inaction and the regrets that can come with letting time and opportunities pass you by.
The band sings, “wasting your life while you’re watching us sail away, stuck in a rut, you could have been something great”, combined with the more empowering, “the clock’s ticking the sun’s still out“. The message of the song is to help us make up our minds and not cast aside our aspirations. The guitar solo is exceptional, reminiscent of the great works of Dire Straits.
Timewaster is Galaxy Thief’s second release with their new lead vocalist, Rhys Messenger, who delivers clarity, depth and personality throughout the track.
