South Africa’s High Water Bridge get cerebral on ‘Format Mind’

Opening with panning synths and vocal textures followed by an exquisite beat drop, Format Mind is the gripping new release from High Water Bridge.

Cerebral lyricism and introspective wisdom follow as the band brings this multi-dimensional adventure to life, “mural patterns are erased, while my mind thoughts are replaced in a network high”.

Speaking on the release, the band says “Format Mind is a song of processing loss, letting go and starting over in a hostile technologicol and technomedical landscape.

The melodies are fierce and piercing, Nick Erasmus delivers rippling drums, and we love Alex Kromhout and Kendal Beadon‘s vocals which give The Cure levels of energy in places. Jason King delivers refined keyboards and samples whilst Nelis van Tonder slays the guitar. The band coins their sound as “spectral rock”.

The song comes accompanied by a moody and trippy visual that has been keeping us hypnotized, literally.

High Water Bridge (HWB) is an experimental five-piece band from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, born in the winter of 2017 out of late-night jams in the derelict heart of their home city.

Their discography is wild and vivid with elements of psychedelia alongside progressive instrumentation from the band who use a rare euphonium to bring their sound and vision to life.
