Reeling us in with a rippling pulses and a glowing synth, Still Shining opens with the lyrics, “Still Shining, from the post show afterglow…“, enticing us with a cute brand of alternative pop from Vancouver based Coastal Town.
The song takes us on a journey of experiencing one’s first music concert. The reference? A Daft Punk show! Still Shining is definitely reminiscent of that vibe and energetic uplift. Fusing multiple vocal tones amidst the vibrant guitar, the pace of the song builds as layers fuse and we experience a moving middle-8 before the super catchy final refrain.
Coastal Town is a multi-generational group with the majority of their members in high school. They also have many mentors from the local music community; Kris Schulz, Kelly Brown and Jacob Seyer who have contributed to the group’s development.
Speaking on their writing, Coastal Town says, “In our songwriting we go where the song takes us, but are always close to our lyric-driven alternative-indie-pop sound.”
Fun fact, but Coastal Town’s first album was produced by Doug Fury of the iconic Bif Naked.
