The utopian ideal has historically been out of control and dangerous. Although now many of us in this spiritual revolution talk about a “vegan utopian dimension of peace” with the best intentions, a more suitable term that encompasses all of this might be “protopia“.
Protopia is a recalibrated, inclusive framework for the future wherein technological progress is accompanied by humanitarian evolution, beyond colonial binaries of Dystopia/Utopia, eschewing the perspectives of historic privilege & rather centering experiences of marginalization, at the intersection of queerness.
Previous concepts of “utopia” that haven’t been rooted in anti-oppression and love energy have ended up being pretty brutal, particularly when it involves the murder of people by the tens of millions to achieve a utopian dream. Now it’s a nightmare.
As consciousness shifts dimensionally and we expand, a new concept to summarise our intentions is “protopia” – a more progressive neologistic concept that considers incremental progress in steps toward improvement, not perfection. A simple ethos of choosing love as the shortcut to world peace.
Futurist Kevin Kelly describes this as:
Protopia is a state that is better today than yesterday, although it might be only a little better. Protopia is much much harder to visualise. Because a protopia contains as many new problems as new benefits, this complex interaction of working and broken is very hard to predict.
This would be a vegan dimension of peace, anti-oppression and equality for all. For us to manifest this, we need to start from within and choose love within ourselves in order to expand this wisdom and consciousness.
