On my ongoing ethical skincare journey, I was recently introduced to French skincare brand, Polaar – a brand born of a deep fascination with the Arctic world by founder and explorer, Daniel Kurbiel.
An environmental approach is a massive priority for Polaar, with formulas designed to be 95% biodegradable (they’re working on the other 5%), reduced packaging size, already made from recyclable materials and all of their cases are made from 100% paper from sustainably managed forests. Polaar also reproduce ingredients to protect the natural world, support biodiversity through contributions, are fully against animal testing and hold a history of supporting women’s rights.
Now onto the experience. The brand has key ingredients sourced from the Arctic which include Boreal Algae, Arctic Bays, Arctic Cotton, Glacier Water, Nunatak Flowers, Siberian Ginseng and Taiga Pine. The products that I have been testing are the new Eclat Boreal micro peeling foam with Siberian Olive, the Nuit Polaar Revitalising Mask, the Instant Eye Contour Multi Energiser, The Hand Cream, Lip Balm and Face Cream with concentrated in arctic berry extracts (arctic raspberries, arctic cranberries and blackberries). I tested them out with a French friend (because duh it’s a French brand) and we started with the micro peeling foam which can be used twice daily, left on for 30 seconds to dry skin and you can immediately feel the subtle results. I also really enjoyed the revitalising mask which had a depth the moisturiser that felt reminiscent of older brands intent on keeping you young and vibrant forever.
All of these products are obviously vegan and it’s inspiring to see a brand taking its approach to beauty and the environment so seriously. Looking forward to experiencing more from Polaar (ps the two A’s are for the Arctic and Antarctic, very cool – pun fully intended!).
