I’ve been full on stanning Cola by Arlo Parks and wanted to share it with you, along with the video directed by Ruby Brown and Leo Taylor.
There’s something undeniably magic about the tone of Arlo’s voice which has resulted in so much acclaim. Although the production is relatively simple, the journey of the track is all down to Arlo. Her emotion and intonation speak volumes. I love the lyrics “I loved you to death, but now I don’t really care” and how Arlo delivers them with sass and almost a nonchalant nature. I feel that the meaning of the track could be explained obviously from a relationship standpoint but the symbolism within the lyrical structures definitely bring to life the track on a wider and more societal front. Literally on loop.
