As y’all know, I am not exactly the hairiest person in the world… but for the last month, I have been testing out a portable laser hair removal device called the Silk’n Infinity on my shoulders where I sometimes get stray hairs which when I pluck them can turn into ingrowns occasionally. I tried laser at Harley Street a few years ago and the results were pretty non existent so I was apprehensive to test out a DIY kit. My hope was rooted in the fact that technology is constantly improving and I was looking forward to the potential outcome that a home kit with a couple of hundred quid could do the job better than almost £2k spent at Harley Street.
…and guess what. It works.
On the tin, the Silk’n Infinity promises up to 92% hair reduction as a result of using eHPL – combining Galvanic and Optical Energy – the sci-fi way in which the device flashes as it destroys your follicles is therapy in itself – try it in the dark! There are 400,000 flashes in the device, so you can expect it to last a long time!
It has five different energy levels which you can change depending on your desired output and the tone of your flesh.
I used my shoulders as a test patch, and I will continue treating that area but might consider using it on other parts of my body, because aside from the good results, there’s something almost meditative about the flashing light experience with the device.
The device comes with an app that you can programme to track your progress, but I have to admit, I have been a little more wild and using it about once a week to test. You can buy the device online from £229 – hopefully it will be of use to you too!
