In my last week in London, I had the pleasure of not one but two visits to Señor Ceviche in Kingly Court, Carnaby with some friends from White & Richardson for their summer event. As someone who has always been a huge fan of very clean eating, ceviche has always been a personal favourite, as it offers a healthy Peruvian cuisine with a twist.
Señor Ceviche was founded by Harry Edmeades, aka Señor Ceviche (duh) after a stint at Lima’s renowned ceviche restaurant El Mercado four years ago. Edmeades returned to London to start Don Ceviche, a pop-up with just five ceviches and then went on to launch Señor Ceviche in 2014. It’s located on the mezannine floor of Kingly Court, so you definitely have to explore a little to find it, but it is definitely worth the effort! The interior takes inspiration from Lima’s boho Barranco District, with patterned floor tiles and street-art posters. As you can see from the photos, the dishes are equally vibrant in colour and taste!
On the first night with the White and Richardson team, we had the chance to create signature dishes and cocktails which definitely showed us that through simplicity and detail the most phenomenal taste bud experience can be created.
My personal favourites from the ceviche menu include the Clasico (the dish we created ourselves) and Mr Miyagi, made with salmon and leche de tigre aka Tiger’s Milk. My favourites from the BBQ dishes were the Super Pollo and Nikkei Pulpo made with octopus (because anything with octopus really does win!). On a desert level, I loved the passion fruit and white chocolate cheesecake.
If you like exploring new cuisines, curated to perfection, then I would definitely urge you to support Señor Ceviche. You can check out more details and the menu in full, here.
