Tattoo culture has definitely broken further into the mainstream over the last decade – with influencers such as Ricki Hall, Vin Los, Ruby Rose and more – plus the use of tattooed models on such a highly infiltrating level across the creative industries – Diesel and Gaultier campaigns alone, not to mention hundreds of emerging fashion brands and advertising campaigns that have heroed body art.
To celebrate this, photographer Danny Baldwin is celebrating the rise of “The Tattooed Male Model” with an exhibition featuring over 100 models including Diego Barrueco, Leebo Freeman and Chris Perceval. Some examples can be seen within this post over over on Instagram. However, in order to finish the exhibition and bring to life the body of work by 2016, Danny has launched a Kickstarter offering various incentives from prints to a photoshoot.
The ideology is to encourage acceptance and celebrate individuality, freedom of expression and creativity. As a photographer Danny wanted to document this significant and rapid change in acceptance and to celebrate the art form of tattooing within a fashion setting.
