This weekend, I had the incredible honour of spending two days with the various iterations (colour and engine capacity) of the new 2015 Ford Mustang – which is finally coming to Europe. I just wrote a piece for the Huffington Post on Heritage As The New Contemporary which highlights the ideologies behind the launch of the 2015 Mustang. In essence, the car takes on board all of the passion, power and silhouette that made the original vehicle so iconic and has revitalised the process to create a style driven aesthetic with unparalleled and seamless functionality for a truly multi-faceted driving experience. You can learn more about the new Ford Mustang here.
I drove both the 2.3-litre EcoBoost and the 5.0-litre V8 which were both incredible in pretty mixed weather conditions (torrential rain to sun) as you can see below. As someone who drives an old school Jeep Wrangler Sport (a car with an actual tipping warning) – road handling is something that I really notice when driving a new car. The Mustang’s body structure and low frame provides a super strong foundation for precision wheel control, and sensitive steering feedback.
The Bavarian countryside acted as a pretty ideal canvas for hero-ing the beast – both aesthetically and for functionality. What added to the experience itself was the next-to-perfect hosting by Ford for the event itself – primarily the Uberfahrt Hotel as our base and the distinctive route created by the Ford team to navigate us.
To conclude, my favourite fact about the Mustang that I learnt on my travels is that it was nearly named the Cougar – and Cougar Sally does sound kinda great…
