I remember when Chaser was in pre-production and have followed the story of the film through the festival route (which proved very fruitful!), but today was the first time that I actually saw it. My mind was blown. Max Rhyser’s performance is Hollywood-worthy and I truly hope that this sets him off on the trajectory that he deserves as an actor.
Chaser is a 15-minute short exploring Zach (a young gay school teacher)’s self-destructive journey through New York’s gay scene. Culturally it speaks volumes whether it has enough time within the 15 minute time frame to address these issues is another question. Let’s hope that this allows Sal Bardo and Max to build on this cultural note with a feature.
