In what can only be described as a groundbreaking turn of events that has obliterated the need for a music video (unless our dreams become a reality and a new one is made to replace the likely to never be released Terry Richardson video featuring R Kelly), a studio version of Gaga’s Do What U Want has arrived featuring Christina Aguilera. This all began on The Voice when the two artists performed in a momentous fashion leaving haters far far behind. The sheer success of this live collaboration which resulted in GLOBAL praise – in part to the multi-layered performance art enunciating the torment that both artists have experienced from the press and public – has been taken up a level with this studio version. Granted some of the live vocal energy has been dulled down – it’s practically impossible to replicate what that moment truly stood for. In fact, it transcends the understanding of the general public, but I have faith in those of you reading this right now that you do know the sources of these.
In any case, on a personal level this duet means a lot to me as I am such a strong believer in positive energy and not holding grudges, generating negativity or trolling IRL on online. I hope that it sets a precedent for better behaviour from the press and public and an incentive to appreciate art. Historically viewed this could be the start of something new and incredible, culturally.
In any case, to visualise this, you can watch the live video, but GIFs do this more justice from the live performance than any video treatment could. Actually that’s a lie, I have about a million ideas in my head about how to bring this to life artistically through a low budget video treatment that could look like it was made for ten million dollars.
